What solar financing is still available in Nova Scotia in 2026?

The most relevant options as of June 2026 are: (1) municipal PACE programs that are still active — Halifax Solar City, Colchester's Solar Colchester and Cozy Colchester programs, and the SwitchPACE programs in West Hants Regional Municipality and the Municipality of Pictou County; and (2) standard home equity or personal financing through your bank or credit union. Note: Nova Scotia's Clean Energy Financing program (administered by Clean Foundation, covering Digby, Yarmouth, Barrington, and other participating municipalities) has closed to new applications. Nova Scotia Power's net metering program is not financing, but it is the mechanism that makes solar economically viable — it credits your solar exports against your electricity bill year-round. One important note: the fixed monthly base charge ($19.17) cannot be offset by solar credits, so a solar-only household still pays a minimum bill each month.
