This guide covers the current state of solar rebates, grants, and financing programs available to Nova Scotia homeowners as of March 2026. The SolarHomes rebate and federal Canada Greener Homes programs have both closed. Here is what remains available.

Ended in 2025. No replacement announced as of March 2026.

Two programs remain active for Nova Scotia homeowners as of March 2026.
NS Power Net Metering (Self-Generating Option)
ActiveCredits solar exports at the retail rate (~$0.18/kWh). Credits bank year-round and offset your usage. Unused credits expire January 1. Note: the monthly base charge ($19.17) cannot be offset by solar credits. Province-wide for all NSP customers.
Clean Energy Financing — PACE
Active — select municipalitiesProvincial program enabling select municipalities to offer property-linked financing. No large upfront cost — repaid through property taxes. Four programs active in our service area: District of Digby ($25,000 / 15 yr), District of Yarmouth ($15,000 / 10 yr), District of Barrington ($10,000 / 10 yr), and Colchester's Cozy Colchester ($30,000 / 10–15 yr). Note: Digby and Yarmouth programs cover rural districts only — Town of Digby and Town of Yarmouth residents are not eligible.

Known Financing Terms
Halifax Solar City (HRM): 4.75% fixed interest, 10-year term, repaid through property tax. Verify current terms at halifax.ca/solar-city.
District of Digby: Up to $25,000 / 15-year term / first-come first-served. Rural district only — Town of Digby residents not eligible. See cleanenergyfinancing.ca/digby.
District of Yarmouth: Up to $15,000 / 10-year term / first-come first-served. Rural district only — Town of Yarmouth residents not eligible. See cleanenergyfinancing.ca/yarmouth.
District of Barrington: Up to $10,000 / 10-year term / first-come first-served. See cleanenergyfinancing.ca/barrington.
Municipality of Colchester (Cozy Colchester): Up to $30,000 / 10–15 year term / 5% one-time administration fee (waived for low-income households). Interest rate not publicly disclosed. Covers solar and other energy retrofits. See colchester.ca/cozy-colchester.
